What: Bringing to Light: Changes in Tower Lighting

The regulations and state-of-the-art for tower lighting are regularly changing as evidenced by the FAA's recent circular. Our April meeting, featuring Mike Thompson and Bear Poth from LumenServe℠, Inc., will review key aspects of the regulations that you need to know. LEDs have been around for many years, however in the tower lighting world their deployment is creating big changes. Additionally, the traditional practice of procurement, maintenance, and monitoring has a new model: Tower Lighting as a Service (TLaaS). Mike and Bear will explore changes in technology and the advantages and implications of TLaaS.
Mike Thompson is the Vice President of Sales for LumenServe℠, Inc. and has 25+ year professional career in technology, telecommunications, and media. His experience includes overall management of fiber build outs in high-rises, senior product management for telecom start-ups, and national sales and marketing roles. He received a BA in Business from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Xavier University. He handles sales for LumenServe℠, Inc. in the eastern US.
Bear Poth is the founding President and CEO of LumenServe℠, Inc. and has a background founding and growing telecommunications and technology-based companies over a 25+ year professional career. His experience includes companies that have built and operated IP Networks, extensive CATV, Internet, and VoIP facilities, miles of hybrid fiber/coaxial broadband facilities, as well as wireless networks and towers. Bear is a long-time member of the Engineering Advisory Board at The University of Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas.
