Many of us work in or are responsible for the operation of very high reliability facilities such as radio or TV studios, production facilities, or transmitter sites. Among the necessary ingredients for high reliability are clean electrical power, grounding, bonding, and surge protection.
Our Wednesday, August 12th guest speaker was Kevin Turner, the Northeast Regional Manager for Smiths Power, manufacturer of such brands as Transtector, PolyPhaser, LEA, Onyx and RO Associates. Smiths Power manufactures products for power quality, power distribution, and power monitoring through surge and EMP protection, transformers, and integrated solutions such as rugged outdoor cabinets for power Protection. They also offer classes and site audits for issues related to grounding, bonding and surge protection. Kevin discussed these classes, general services, and specific products that have commonly been used in the broadcast market for decades.
A bite to eat, kindly provided by Smiths Power, was served at 6:30 PM. We discussed some Chapter 37 business about 7:00 PM and Kevin Turner began his presentation a few minutes after that. A copy of his presentation is attached, below.
