What: Wireless Technology for Remote Broadcast
When: January 17, 2006 7:00 PM

Chris Crump, Director of Sales & Marketing of Comrex Corporation, was on hand for a discussion of Wireless Technology for Remote Broadcast. Advances in wireless communications technology coupled with a very sophisticated coding algorithm from Comrex have made it possible to broadcast remotely, with up to 7 kHz audio, even when no POTS or ISDN lines are available (see photo of GSM module, below). He helped to provide a basic understanding of the elements of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), PCS (Personal Communications Services) and many other acronyms that make this new way to help broadcast remotes become both cost-effective and relatively hassle-free. A Matrix GSM Audio Codec from Comrex was available for a "hands-on" demonstration.
