The SBE Chapter 37 annual picnic at the WFED (formerly WTOP) historical art deco transmitter site in picturesque Wheaton, MD will be held on Saturday September 20th, starting at 12 noon.

The picnic is an opportunity to meet with broadcast engineering friends along with their families, spouses, and significant others. As usual, we'll tell a few "war stories" and dine on traditional grilled picnic fare. Expect burgers, hot dogs, soda, chips, etc to be provided, and feel free to bring something to share with your fellow engineers if you wish.

The chapter will also start collecting nominees for the board for 2026. As you may already know, it takes a team organize events such as this picnic, our joint holiday party with SMPTE DC, and the monthly meetings with guest presenters. Any and all assistance is appreciated, so if you are interested in running for the board or just want to volunteer some time, please reach out to one the board members for more information.

Our picnic is an in-person event. Although it's a bit unusual to utilize Zoom for this purpose, we're asking all attendees to Register Here via Zoom so we know how much food to arrange for attendees. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email.

Many thanks to our sponsors for their support, including Wheatstone, Vertical Technology Services, Comrex, Orban, and Inrush, just to name a few.  Thanks also to Brian Oliger, Art Rose, Dave Kolesar, and the folks at WTOP for helping to make arrangements and for hosting the picnic at the WFED AM 1500 transmitter site once again. And a very special thanks to Jim Peck from SCMS for spearheading sponsorship efforts for the picnic once again.
