Each year, the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the association for broadcast and multimedia technology professionals, conducts a member recruitment drive. The drive calls on current SBE members to encourage their non-member colleagues to join the association. This year, 49 individual members were recruited.

2026 Membership DriveThe SBE Membership Drive ran from March 1 until May 31. As a recruiting incentive to members, the SBE asks for prize donations from SBE sustaining member companies. In addition, the recruiter will earn $5 per new member (up to $25) off his or her 2027 membership dues. Seven sustaining member companies plus the SBE provided prizes this year, ranging from shirts and hats to broadcast equipment. The SBE donated logo items, a copy of CertPreview, and a free Webinars by SBE registration. The theme for the 2026 drive was Shape the Future.

The SBE thanks the sustaining members who provided prizes: BSW, Dielectric, GatesAir, Heartland Video Systems, LBA Group, SCMS, Telos Alliance and Time Base Consoles. The list of prizes and the winning recruiters will be published in the August 2026 issue of The Signal, the SBE’s bi-monthly newsletter, and on the SBE website.

The close of the drive resulted in 49 new recruited members, who were sponsored by 42 current members. The recruiters represent 26 different SBE chapters. The Golden Recruiter awards are for the chapters that recruited the most members. Chapters are divided into two categories: Class A is the chapters with fewer than the chapter membership median, and Class B is the chapters with more than the chapter membership median. The Class A Golden Recruiters are Chapters 30 South Bend, 76 Eugene and 104 Toledo with two new members each. The Class B Golden Recruiters are Chapters 15 New York City, 58 Northeast (NY) and 79 Austin with four new members each.

The top individual recruiters are also recognized: Class A is Jason Klocko (Chapter 104 Toledo) with two members, and Class B are Kelly Campbell (Chapter 35 Kentucky) and Ethan Pfalzgraff (Chapter 109 Des Moines) with three members each.
